TRANSMISSION FILTERS

TRANSMISSION FILTERS

Caring for your vehicle also means maintaining your gearbox. This means changing the automatic gearbox oil and replacing the transmission filter to keep your vehicle running smoothly.

The transmission filter (also known as the "strainer" or "hydraulic filter") for a gearbox is a filtration element provided in a car transmission system.

Its role is to preserve the oil by retaining particles and impurities that may be circulating in the system.
The transmission oil in the gearbox actually lubricates the gears and other components.

It is therefore important to filter out impurities, metal fragments and particles that may be circulating in the oil and damage the system.

HEALTHY GEARBOX = OIL CHANGE + TRANSMISSION FILTER REPLACEMENT

WHY IS IT ESSENTIAL TO CHANGE YOUR AUTOMATIC GEARBOX OIL?

Changing the oil in the automatic gearbox extends the life of the vehicle, optimises gear shifting and reduces fuel consumption.

REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION FILTER ALLOWS:

  • KEEPING FILTRATION EFFICIENCY
  • PREVENTING BREAKDOWNS
  • EXTENDING THE GEARBOX LIFE
  • IMPROVING YOUR CAR PERFORMANCE

WHEN SHOULD THE TRANSMISSION FILTER BE CHANGED?

If the transmission filter is not replaced in accordance with the manufacturer's maintenance recommendations, it may become clogged, causing one or more of the following symptoms:

  • ABNORMAL GEAR SHIFTING DIFFICULT GEAR
  • SHIFTING LEAKS
  • BURNT SMELL
  • ABNORMAL TRANSMISSION PUMP NOISE (RATTLING)

If the filter is clogged, the transmission will overheat due to a lack of lubrication. You may also find metal fragments at the bottom of the gearbox housing.
